Shabbat in Ptown
Central Reform Temple of Boston, a progressive Jewish congregation located at 15 Newbury Street in the Back Bay, will once again offer summer Sabbath Eve worship services in Provincetown, on Friday, August 9 at 5:30 p.m. This inclusive, egalitarian celebration in prayer and song, will be led by Rabbi Howard Berman and the congregation’s musicians, and will be held at the UU Meeting House, 236 Commercial St., Provincetown, followed by an Oneg Shabbat social hour on the front lawn.
Central Reform Temple, the liberal Jewish presence in the center of Boston, is active in the interfaith and LGBTQ communities and in the broader civic and social life of the city. With many members who are also residents of Provincetown, it has offered various programs here on the Outer Cape over the years, highlighted by these special monthly worship celebrations each summer.

Eastham to Host Digital Bookmobile National Tour Event
A unique, free traveling exhibit traveling from coast to coast presents an interactive reading experience to learn about and try ebooks and audiobooks available through Eastham Public Library this Thursday, August 8, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Community members can explore the digital services available at public libraries in Eastham via the Digital Bookmobile. Readers can learn how to browse and borrow from Eastham Public Library’s collection of ebooks and audiobooks.
The 53-foot long traveling exhibit provides devices, Internet connectivity, and expert guidance to the local library’s digital collection of ebooks and audiobooks. This traveling exhibit first launched in 2008 in Central Park, New York, and has since traveled more than 233,000 miles and welcomed over 240,000 visitors at over 1,000 events.
The bookmobile is equipped with interactive workstations featuring video tutorials, touchscreen activities, devices to sample titles, and more. Readers with a valid library card can borrow their favorite titles 24/7 by visiting clamsnet.overdrive.com or downloading OverDrive’s one-tap reading app, Libby.
