Italians are known for their passion.  Dominick, co-owner of Mistralino, is certainly no exception.  He arrived at this Italian restaurant hoping for some bookkeeping work.  Before he knew it, he was the host and loving every minute of it!  He enjoyed it so much, he and his husband Matt purchased the business three years ago, and now they host a party in their restaurant every night.

So that’s the beginning.  But there is so much more.  The food is terrific and fresh, made to order.  (Try the zucchini cappellini with cherry tomatoes, parsley, and garlic, delicious, Dominick’s mother’s recipe.)  And the atmosphere…upstairs is the cozy M Bar, all wood and angled ceilings, while the dining room downstairs surrounds a brick fireplace.  Signed plates festoon the walls.  The restaurant buys plates from the Methodist Thrift Store, then diners make a donation to the Soup Kitchen and Church and get to write personal messages on the plates, which are then hung on the walls to read and share.  It’s a celebration of food and community, a testament to the beautiful human spirit.  Check out this party at Mistralino!
