Author and Photographer of I Am of Cape Cod – People and Their Stories featured at Cape Cod Museum of Art (CCMoA)

Hear from author John Whelan and photographer Kim Roderiques of I Am of Cape Cod about their travels from Provincetown to Sandwich interviewing and photographing people who give the Cape its character, as part of the ARTfull Thursday series at Cape Cod Museum of Art on May 24, 6 – 7:30 p.m. See some of the 139 individuals that include fishermen, artists, politicians, scientists, farmers, entrepreneurs, environmental activists, and writers in their presentation.

Both Whelan and Roderiques, long-time residents of Chatham, will be available to autograph books after the event. Whelan is a graduate of Babson College and worked as a stockbroker in Hyannis. Retired now, he hosts an oldies rock n’ roll radio program on WOMR-FM. Whelan has previously published two books for children: The Little Sockpirate and Miss Egret Regrets.  He is also a columnist for the Cape Cod Chronicle.

Roderiques is the author of Dogs on Cape Cod, featuring an extensive collection of dogs and scenic views from Provincetown to Sandwich.  She also co-authored the children’s book Max and Charlie Help a Hero based on a true story about a boy on Nantucket, which received a New England Book Festival award. Her photographs can be seen at Gallery Antonia in Chatham.

Founded by artists in 1981, CCMoA is the home of Cape Cod art. The Museum preserves the work of the Cape’s finest artists and celebrates the distinctive artistic identity of the Cape, the Islands and the region. It is a major hub of the cultural life of the region.  Through its outstanding art collection and diverse programming, CCMoA educates, inspires, and excites the imagination while caring for and connecting the Cape’s many communities.  The Museum is situated in a beautiful setting surrounded by a sculpture garden at the Cape Cod Center for the Arts. CCMoA has seven galleries, a museum shop and a film screening room. It is supported in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod.

CCMoA is located at 60 Hope Lane, just off Route 6A, on the same campus as the Cape Cinema and the Cape Cod Playhouse in Dennis, Mass. Tickets are $12/$10 CCMoA Members. For more information, call 508.385.4477 or visit ccmoa.org.
